Question of the Day

T (yesterday in the car): "Mom what did the Indians use to wipe their bottoms a long time ago?"

silence....trying very hard not to laugh

Me: "Hey did Uncle Wes tell you to ask me that?"

T: "no."

Me: "leaves, honey."

T: "oh, ok."

5 points (for him) for using the word bottoms and not butts.

Opposites Attract

If our DVR could talk it would wonder how in the world P and I have anything in common. Our list of shows… can you guess which show belongings to who?

Modern Marvels
Kourtney & Kim Take New York
California’s Gold with Huell Howser
Teen Mom 2
The First 48
Holly’s World

But we have this unspoken agreement: Do not bag on each other's show while that person is watching it (tough) and don't dare delete it!

Gettin' there

I am not one to take compliments very well...in fact it kind of weirds me out. But lately a few people have been super sweet and saying they have noticed how trimmed down I look. I thought I would post some pics just to compare and I guess they are right! I am totally happy but yet of course want to keep going. No not keep going to become anorexic or s*** like that but just to continue to work out. I love that I really don't have to "watch" what I eat as long as I work out. Doesn't mean I can go hit up McDonald's all day long..NO! But I like that when I do workout everyday my body naturally wants to make healthy choices and appropriate portion sizes.

So..what has been my inspiration these last few months? Actually my brother doing an Ironman. It was so cool to be a part of all that energy and good vibes as he came across the finish line. It actually was very intense. I am amazed at what the human body can do and it was really cool to witness it in person. I actually choked up as he came across the finish line. Do I want to do an Ironman? Hell no! But I DO want to do a triathlon. I want to feel that rush, that high, the pain and most of all hear the crowd cheering (maybe not for me but just in general).

This was me 6 months ago:

This was this weekend (and I have to add NO SPANX) girls you will know what that means:

This was me on my wedding day (my goal):

Vegas Baby

The Internet Moms....yes we actually all met via the worldwideweb. We've keep in touch for about 6 years now!

Back from the Girls Weekend in Vegas.

Not too much I can say about the weekend b/c both sets of parents read this blog.

But it involved a lot of adult beverages and a TON of laughter. What do you expect when you get 11 Mommies together?

Bottom line is that:

a) Nobody got hurt (stumbling in 4 inch heels down the stairs doesn't count) and

b) Nobody got arrested (being escorted out of a club doesn't count)

Concerns.

Just thought I would quickly post as we are getting lots of calls and emails. B&B are ok! They are in Auckland right now and were scheduled to visit Christchurch in a few weeks (at the end of the trip).

So they are fine and still set to do the rest of the tour!

Access to email for them is very limited. Thank you all for your concerns, thoughts and prayers.

How much longer...how much longer?

In just a few days this Mama will be free from diaper changes, chicken nuggets, school lunches, back-talking 5 year olds and ear infections.

Yipppeee Vegas Baby...Vegas!!!

It's a Moms Weekend and we have a wild itinerary planned:

Thinking we may hit up the local library, the Zoo and possibly a Chuck-E-Cheese while we are there.

And for some serious fun, I just may ask the front desk for a wake-up call (to SCREAM into the phone) at 3:30 am and another at 6:00.

Happy Heart Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I have the best hubby in the world! As most of you know I lost my iPod about a month ago. I have been tearing the house from top to bottom looking for it. I even posted signs in the neighborhood (wishful thinking-I know) but it never turned up. I think I may have lost it on one of my runs. I usually place it on top of the jogger stroller and I think it fell off when I took it off at the park.

Tonight I was completely surprised with a brand new PINK one! P also got me a new Nike sensor since of course that was attached to the iPod when it was lost.

I am so happy because my runs just haven't been the same without my music and "the little man" talking to me saying how far I have run.

Thank you honey! You are the best. I love you!

TGIM

Thank God It’s Monday.

I think I might be one of the few people in this world that hates weekends. Why? Typically P is off flying on weekends. It’s depressing to see families out doing fun things together, watching all the Dads in the cul-de-sac playing ball or riding bikes with the kids in the street, hearing all the lawnmowers start up at the same time, and smelling the BBQ’s fire up on Saturday or Sunday.

Weekends are typically me juggling birthday parties alone with the boys, cleaning house, feeding time and trying to keep the peace amongst the boys (well Tyler).

Once P is home the dynamics in the house shift. Almost like the Red Sea has parted. Love love love dinnertime around here when P is home.
I can relax, have a glass of wine and engage in some adult conversation! It also consists of a thoughtfully planned out meal, typically something grilled to perfection along with a tasty veggie and yummy whole grain side.

A typical dinner when P is GONE:

Crap it’s 5:00pm and the boys need to be fed. Hurry what can I quickly heat up one-handed. Mind you D’s happy (fussy) hour starts now and he picks now to have to be held. T wants the same thing for dinner every single night (quesadilla) after arguing with him for 15 minutes he finally gives in to the 2 choices I offer. Another 5 minutes is arguing over what side of veggies or fruit he is going to have. All the while D is getting even more cranky. Poor kid gets his usual fruits and veggies from a pouch and maybe some cold pasta. He’ll inhale all this in about 35 seconds. So then I have to quickly find some kind of hard cracker that will at least sustain him another 3-5 minutes. T finally eats but of course asks for 20 other items to go along with his dinner. I eventually find something that resembles food for myself to eat. It is typically something I can shove in my mouth quickly while waiting for my frozen dinner to heat up. I then take all my vitamins and my Juice Plus (guilty conscience I guess). Just as I sit down to eat, D is done and starts throwing things on the floor. Take him out of high chair spend a few minutes cleaning him up and then locating a toy for him to occupy himself. It doesn’t work. Finally I succumb to allowing him to go through my wallet and purse. It’s a pain in the ass to reorganize but hey it buys me a good 8 minutes to scarf down my meal in peace.

Repeat for the next 3 nights.

You can see why I say TGIM.

First Sleepover

Ty had his first sleepover party this weekend. A friend in his class is the daughter of the owners of a local play-gym for kids called: Child's Play
http://www.childsplaytemecula.com/home.htm

Naturally she held her Birthday party here. There were about 25 kids and adults there and the kids were on "Cloud Nine!" Dylan and I stayed for a couple hours and even Dylan went crazy playing with all the fun activites. A select few of the kids from the class were invited to stay the night. So T donned his sleeping bag, pjs and Pillow Pet. He and about 8 other kids got to camp-out inside Child's Play! I was a little nervous as this was his first sleepover but I knew the parents and also felt comfortable that there was adaquate supervision all night long. The adults tried to get the kids to wind down about 8:00 or 9 but were not sucessful until about midnight! We wil be paying for that today, for sure!

T couldn't be more excited about his party and all he keeps saying is: Mom, I stayed up really really really late and slept in my sleeping bag next to Reese (another boy from his class)!

4 classes down

Well S and I survived 4 Spin classes. We were told that after 4 classes we'd either love it or hate it. Honestly I think it's a little bit of both. I hate the anticipation the day leading up to the class. I dread going and get pretty anxious (shocker) about it. But once I am there and I see some familiar faces and I get going on that bike, I feel AMAZING! I love pushing my body to the limit and feeling proud at the amount of miles (AND CALORIES) I did in just a mere 55 minutes.

We liked it so much that we actually enrolled for 4 more!

Screw Old MacDonald

Yesterday during D's Un-Happy Hour I was getting desperate to try some new tricks. He just wouldn't stop fussing. Even T was beginning to get annoyed. So during bath time T goes: "Mom let's try singing to him."

In harmony: "Old MacDonald had a farm...e-i-e-i-o..." still fussing

In harmony: "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, How I wonder what..." more tears and fussing.

Ok screw it.

Me: "Baby you're a fiiiiire-work. Come on let your colors burst...make 'em go UP UP UP...as you shoot across the sky-yyy-yyy."

The tears immediately stop and his face lights up with a giant grin.

I guess the baby likes Katy Perry. I am sure I will get crap from P about this.

Diaper Study

I got invited to participate in a Diaper Study. I did the phone interview yesterday and it looks like D will qualify (weight and diaper size). I am super stoked about getting a bunch of free diapers! But today I am having second thoughts. What kind of diapers will I be testing? I envision being sent some newspaper and package tape with instructions to "have baby wear for at least 3 hours."

Date Night

P and I had a wonderful date night...well not really a night but a day and a half to be exact. Thank you grandparents.

We started the date with a 5 mile run along Mission Bay. Nothing beats running next to the one you love with the sun shining and catching the ocean breeze! At one point a guy ran up next to us and commented on the weather and of course I had to throw in "yea this is nice but I'd rather be in Chicago right now, though."

Later we checked in to our hotel, changed and went on to Sea World. Paul's airline was having a Message to the Field that night which was a like a giant pep rally. They paid for us to get into Sea World, our dinner and of course drinks! Rock on. After dinner we all gathered in Shamu stadium (at this point the Park was closed) and we had the entire place to just employees! The CEO came out and spoke and announced a bunch of new fun things, handed out prizes and announced the profits they made for last year. Won't go into detail but the airline is doing very very well. Thank you passengers for flying on them! At the end of the night we were treated to our very own Shamu show.

Even later... that night we joined the other pilots for more drinks and apps in the hotel bar. Slept like a rock that night and didn't get up until 8:45...HEAVEN!

The boys had a blast with the grandparents and of course got to do some really fun things as well. Currently suffering through a little bit of "Grandparent Detox" with D but not too bad. (Grandparent Detox is coming down off that high of getting held all day and undivided attention).

Rocket Man

So the Rocket Man learned to deal with delays from Mission Control this weekend at his Birthday party.

We were all set to have the party in the park and launch rockets but it started raining about a half hour before the party was set to begin. So at the last minute we had to have all the guests come to the house instead for an indoor party....I was real thrilled of this change! I really hadn't cleaned the house nor prepared anything as it was going to be at the park and the kids would be entertained by the rockets and play equipment. As chaotic as it seemed to me, it went fine and T had a blast. And in the end that is what is important!

The rain stopped for a few minutes just enough time to get a couple launches in. So the kids were beyond thrilled that they got to launch anyways.
