We are on the countdown to school starting back up. Yes already.
He's been out since mid-May so it's time!
We will finish off our last week in beautiful San Diego. We will stay for the week and spend lots of time with family, go to the beach, maybe Legoland and the Zoo. My brother and I will also be doing the Camp Pendleton Tri together on the second Saturday we are in town. It's an ocean swim and now I am starting to get a little nervous about swimming in the ocean. That same night is Paul's 20th high school reunion so it will be nice to get an evening out and party down at the reunion! I know Paul's not happy about this being his TWENTY year reunion so do me a favor and don't mention it to him.
Looking forward to a great last week of summer.

Oh the arguments between brothers
A fight was brewing among my boys for the 107th time. It was over a dumb plastic Fisher Price camera that I wrapped up and gave to Tyler on the day Dylan was born. It was addressed to Tyler from Dylan.
D: "It's my camera."
T: " No it's not!"
D: "Yes it is!"
T: "No really it IS mine Dylan!!! You gave it to me on the day your were born and came out of Mommy's tummy."
Pretty sure Dylan was thinking, wait.....what???
D: "It's my camera."
T: " No it's not!"
D: "Yes it is!"

Happy 1 Year Anniversary
This past weekend we will have lived in Prescott for an entire year!
I guess we can no longer say we are "newbies."
I remember last year how sad, frightened and apprehensive I was about moving. I wondered how my family would adjust and how I would survive.
I laugh now because it has really been an easy adjustment. How did I get so lucky? Sure I have had to make new friends and I still miss my old ones but it's nice that it wasn't nearly as rough as I pictured it to be.
I spent the weekend (not in Prescott) but in Palm Springs with my girlfriends. It was a nice little getaway and we sure did have a fun trip. As I made the drive home (from Palm Springs to AZ) I recalled all the feelings I had just one year ago. One year ago I was driving alone across the desert with everything we owned and about to start a new life in a new city. I remember the exact spots during that drive where I started bawling and had to pull over so I could see through my tears. As I drove through those same spots I couldn't help but smile and feel an entirely different feeling. I couldn't wait to get up to the mountains, take in that fresh air and feel my heart warm up when I see the "Welcome to Prescott" signs. I would be HOME soon!

The Cowboys Balls
Ever since the Rodeo last week D has been obsessed with Cowboys and Bull Riding.
Anyone who puts on a cowboy hat in Prescott is a cowboy to him. So we pretty much see "cowboys" several times a week when we are out and about.
The other day while in line at a store a man (in a cowboy hat) was behind us and he kept asking me:
"Where's the Cowboys Balls?" and "Does he have balls?"
Nice.
He has a hard time saying "Bull" or "Bulls."

Rodeo, 4th, Folks and Bike
My parents arrived last week the day after my Birthday. It been a great week or celebrating. Yes we celebrated all week. Especially with the 4th of July. Love that my Birthday is so close to the 4th sometimes because it just seems to stretch into one long celebration.
We too the kids to the World's Oldest Rodeo and it was actually my first rodeo. It was a lot of fun. Both kids sat through the entire show with wide eyes!
We celebrated the 4th with some friends who live in Anthem. Unfortunately it poured rain that day. We tried to go join all the festivities the town was having a a park but it was cold and wet. We ended up just hanging out back at the house and grilling. Later we drove to watch the fireworks as the rain had all cleared up.
On Friday I made a big purchase and got a new road bike. As I mentioned in my Luna Post I was thinking about getting a new bike. Ok so basically I wasn't "thinking" I had already made up my mind. I ended up traveling down to Anthem to a local shop called Bicycle Vibe. I spent about two hours with the sales guy Kevin getting fitted and testing our various bikes. I chose a beautiful new Trek Madone road bike. I love it. It is so comfortable and shifts so smooth. I also love the sound the all carbon frame makes when you really get going! My next triathlon is in August and I can't wait to see how it performs on race day!
