Tippecanoe & Tyler Too

Grandpa Breece was often heard chanting happily : "Tippecanoe & Tyler Too!"

I always wondered what this meant.
So here is today's history lesson:

It was an 1840 Presidential campaign slogan. William Henry Harrison was the hero of the Battle of Tippecanoe and John Tyler was his Vice President. This campaign was the very first campaign with slogans and songs.

So in honor of you today Grandpa Breece, I will sing this phrase to Tyler! I am sure he will give me a funny look but I am his Mom-he already thinks I am weird.

Rest in peace Grandpa Breece. Enjoy your loving reunion with your one (and only) Betty Boop.

Neglect

I have been neglecting my blog. But for good reason:

Double Escrow.
End of Year school stuff.
Helping my grandmother with moving out of her home.
Finishing off my last 2 weeks of my part-part time job.
Preparing for a 3+ week camping trip. (Yeah insane right before we move).
Wrapping up important loose ends like final doctor/dental appointments and getting everything transferred over to AZ.

Bring on the anxiety.

Child Abuse

Paul and I went out of town the last few days to go house hunting in Prescott. More on that later...but we leave our children in the hands of loving grandparents. All the while we think they are safe and sound. However we come home and view evidence of possible child abuse? You decide:

Why is it that Opa is the only one having a good time?

Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day to all the Moms out there!

But even more important: Happy Mothers Day to my wonderful Mom. Without you I wouldn't be the person I am. Thank you for all that you have done, not only for me but my family. I look forward to spending a nice day with you. I love you very much!

Friends who don't yet have children

One of the things I love to do is take a peek at New Mom's baby registries. There is a HUGE difference from those who have never had kids before and those expecting their second or third.

I will be the first to admit to all these things so don't take offense.

With a New Mama you will see about 10,000 items on her list.
With an "old timer" you will see 4: diapers, wipes, pacifiers and socks.

New Mama will put things like Angel Care monitor (to tell you if the baby stops breathing), a video monitor (to spy on baby), AND a regular monitor (to hear baby).
Old timers will be lucky if they even remember to plug in a monitor and laugh at all those other items b/c most of the time you will get false alarms or the video is so blurry you can't tell if that is your baby or the stuffed animal in the crib.

New Mama will put a Tide Stain stick on their registry.
Old Timers will secretly chuckle and think "like you'll ever have THE TIME to remember to use that thing." You will be up to your eyeballs in diaper changes, walking around like a zombie from the 3 hours of sleep you are getting at night, and the last thing you will care about is whether or not you pre-treated that onesie!

New Mama will put baby clothes on her registry.
Sorry but guests won't buy you clothes off of a registry. You will get clothes but you will get clothes THEY think are cute.

New Mama will put 7 truckloads of only one sized diaper: Newborn. ALERT: Newborn diapers will only fit for 1.2 days!!!! Or if your children are like mine they would have only fit while they were still in the womb.
