It's hard to move away from family but the one positive thing is that when the visits do happen they seem that much more extra special. Tomorrow my parents and Grandmother arrive and I couldn't be more excited!
I feel like it's Christmas Eve and the present is spending time with my family. I can't wait to show them the new house, my town, T's school and just hang out all weekend. The boys are excited too. T keeps asking what day it is because he knows Friday is the day.

Practice ride
So I did a ride today that is the same ride I am going to so in my first triathlon next month (Sept 11).
Here is the actual ride: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5030187
I am glad I did it because it was tough. I didn't realize how much of a climb this ride was going to be! The first 4 miles alone were a major uphill battle! You can see the elevation rise/gain on the link I posted above!
Am I ready for the triathlon? Not yet, but I do feel better about it now. I know what I am up against. I plan to be better prepared. Major mistakes today: not enough water and I started way too late in the morning. When I jumped on the bike it was already in the 80's. Doesn't seem hot but when you are climbing, climbing and climbing at that elevation, it is!

Just refrain from calling me a "Zonie."
We put Arizona plates on the car.
So does this mean the next time I visit San Diego:
I will be wearing a sweater in July?
Expect sunshine at the beach in June?
and/or
Drive the wrong way on a one-way street in Gaslamp?

Gap in his mouth
Big T lost his first tooth. He came home on the first day of school saying that it hurt to eat his apple. Sure enough he had a loose tooth. It finally came out yesterday. He got $2 and some odd change from the Tooth Fairy. Glad she remembered to make a visit!

Fab Five Fav's
Fab Five Fav's is back!
Here goes:
1) Skype
Oh Skype how we love you so! Now that we live far away from all the relatives it's so nice to be able to chat face to face on-line. The boys enjoy it much more than the telephone. All I have to do is say "let's Skype" and they run to the computer. I love that it is so easy to use. Trust me if my Mom can figure it out anyone can use it. I still think my 90 year old Grandma is in shock as to how it works.
2) Stainless Steel Wipes
I have a love-hate relationship with all the new appliances in my kitchen. They are all stainless steel. I was in awe the moment I laid my eyes on them. However after a couple weeks they drive me crazy. If you even go so far as to breathe on them-they leave a mark. Not very practical when you have small children in the house that love love love to put their grubby hands on everything. But to calm my nerves I use these wipes. They are great and work really fast. I like not having to use a both a cleaning bottle and paper towels. It's all in one so fast and easy!
3) Shark Steam Mop
Our new house has double the square feet of the old house. Sounds awesome except that means double the amount of floors to clean! We have lots of tile in this house and I love being able to just plug my Shark in and mop. It's nice not to have to use chemicals on your floor (god knows I use enough around here- gasp- I love bleach).
4) Lunch Money on-line
T is back at school and he goes all day now. This means he can actually buy his lunch in the cafeteria. I don't have to send him with coins or dollar bills I can just do it via PayPal on-line. All he needs to do is tell them his name and his balance pops up in the computer. They will even send me a notification when his funds start to get a little low.
5) Pet Safe Wireless Fence

When we chose this house and this neighborhood what we really liked was that there were not a lot of houses with fences. Most everything is open and natural which is rare in California. We really wanted to keep it that way but with a dog that could have been hard. We tried this system and it really works. Yes I know at first glance it seems extremely cruel but honestly all it took was one or two shocks and she can now roam and she won't leave the yard. She's a smart cookie and she knows her boundaries.

hand
Seems like just yesterday I was holding your hand for the very first time.
Tomorrow morning I will be holding that same hand as you walk into the classroom for your very first day of Kindergarten
