Fab Five Fav's

Fab Five Favorites

I meant to start doing this at the beginning of the year…. So what if I am 10 weeks late? At the beginning of each month I am going to post what my current obsessions are. Maybe it’s something you have never heard of and want to try. Maybe you’ll get a good laugh, maybe you’ll say oh gross, who knows. Here goes:

1) Daily Mile.com- I love this site. It tracks your workouts. You enter in all the info and pretty much anybody can see it. Logs your miles for the week, month, whatever. It keeps me honest. It makes me actually want to workout b/c it is posted for all the world to see! Weird, I know.

2) Vitatops- LOVE THESE! They are the muffin tops that won’t give you a muffin top. The chocolate ones are the best. They are only 100 calories and have lots of vitamins and fiber loaded into them. They can get pretty pricey but Costco now sells them for a great price. My treat at night is one of these with a tablespoon of whipped cream on top…YUMMMM.

3) Pouch Baby Food (Ella’s Kitchen, Plum Organics etc). I can’t say enough about these. Honestly they are the only way I can get D to eat fruits and veggies. He won’t really eat anything “cut up” other than beets or tomatoes (random huh?) but he’ll suck these down in about 2 seconds flat. If this is what it takes to get him to eat his fruits and veggies; he’ll be getting these until he’s 16. Don’t laugh, but I know moms who give their children baby food and the kids are 6 and 7 years old!I usually wait until these go on sale to buy them. I find the best deals on Amazon or at my local Ralph's when they go 10 for $10.

4) Lipton Green Tea – read that Green Tea helps with belly fat. So if I drink a gallon a day will that help? Maybe I am a too little addicted to it. Is that why I can’t sleep at night?

5) GU Brew- I am finding that the harder I workout the more calories I will need. During those long bike rides or spin classes water alone just won't cut it. Besides you need calories and electrolytes to keep going. Some runners love those gel packs and swear by them. Personally that is like eating Aqufresh Toothpaste in the middle of your workout. Barf! I found that GU makes an electrolyte powder that you mix into your water bottle. Electrolytes help with muscle fatigue and cramping. It will give me that boost to not “poop out” at the middle to end of my workout. Flavors that I like: Blueberry Pom or the Rasberry. Orange is decent but reminds me of the pregnancy diabetes test and the Lemon Lime is just plain gross.
