Arizona.Whiskey.Run.Eat.Tweet. Not necessarily in that order.

Hey I'm not officially training for Ironman Arizona just yet! My training plan doesn't actually begin until May. So why is this my busy time? I assumed this would be considered my slow time! I guess I better think again.

So what's been happening? Spring is in the air and the workouts have officially moved outside. I have also been training really hard for a particular mountain bike race called the Whiskey Off Road. While I am still doing what they organizers call it "the fun ride" it's still some serious stuff. It's almost 20 miles and 2650 of climbing! Every week I have been riding slowly and trying to get more and more women to do this with me. So far I have had a good turnout of women come with me and I enjoy the company. I think some women are really intimidated by mountain biking but I am hoping that if they come with me and see that you don't have to be fast and that it is ok to walk certain sections, that they too will fall in love with mountain biking.

 Truth... Go ladies!
This race is in about 3 weeks and I am just so excited. It's always such an amazing three day event revolved around bikes and music (with an occasional beer or whiskey shot thrown in). The kids even have a chance to race and they are already getting their bikes polished up!

I also had a chance to help out with a run this weekend with a group called Run Eat Tweet AZ I enjoyed the group so much and I must have made a decent impression because they asked me to be one of their Chief Running Officers. So I'll be volunteering with this group and helping run events when they come up to my neck of the woods. A summer run is currently in the works so I'll be helping to promote the Prescott run. Perhaps you may even see me on my mountain bike hosting rides. Then do we need to change the name to Bike Eat Tweet AZ? I'm kidding Jeremy, (well sort of). If you are active of social media be sure to give them a follow.

Why? Because it is a LOCAL group for us Arizonians. Come meet local runners. Events will be held with various types of runners in mind. It's not just for the fast runners. You won't be left in the dust. They will also post discount codes to local races and offer giveaways for some freebie items as well.

The event I helped with this past weekend was called the Nuun hydration run. We had about 50 runners of all abilities show up and run around Tempe Town Lake. After the run I had a chance to talk a little bit about being a brand ambassador for Nuun. Additionally we sampled various Nuun flavors and even raffled off some Nuun prizes. I would say the event was a big success depsite getting stung by a bee on the butt while giving my talk to 50 people.

Nuun Giveaways!

Tell me, what have you been up to? Are you busier then normal or are you about to get really busy now that the weather is warming?
