Coffee Date #1

A couple bloggers I know from my fitness community: Nikki Lynda and Jill had a great idea to host a virtual coffee date on the first Saturday of each month. Since it's a topic I haven't seen before I decided to link-up with them and join in on the fun. If you would like to join in please visit one of their pages and add your link at the bottom of the post.

So grab a cup of coffee and let's chat!
If we were having coffee together I'd tell you: that I bought a new headlamp this week for the Hood to Coast relay this summer. However upon making my purchase the lady told me I wanted the red light function. Why? So I could see the animals in the bushes at night! Wait...what the hell, I don't want to know what's out there lurking in the bushes ready to eat me for a midnight snack. I'd tell you this could cause my anxiety to kick into high gear.
If we were having coffee together I'd tell you: Speaking of high gear.... I had my road/tri bike custom fitted to me by the folks at High Gear. It was a long process but I figured out why I was having shoulder pain on some of my longer rides. My handle bar, stem and tri bars were all set up wrong. A long ride is planned for tomorrow so hopefully it will be much more comfortable.
If we were having coffee together I'd tell you: Summer break begins at the end of next month and I am already worried about what I do having the kids at home together all day! I started researching camps and hope to find some that keep them very busy. When the kids are bored they get in trouble, lots of trouble and all I do is break-up fights. I admit: I hate summer break. There I said, I feel better.
If we were having coffee together I'd tell you: I hurt my knee this week at the gym and am laying off running for a bit. I am worried about the running I haven't been doing but I have to let it go and allow it to heal. I think it's just a pulled muscle. It forced me to swim this week which actually felt good. I haven't swam in awhile and it was a nice change. I seem to always forget that and don't know why I tend to just pass up the swimming all the time.

Well it's Saturday and the coffee cup is empty now and the kids are beginning World War III upstairs so that is all. Until next month!

  1. Amanda, you don't look old enough to have kids LOL. I know summer vacation can be bittersweet {either drive us nuts OR make it fun} okay for the first week maybe :) thanks for having coffee with us

  2. I have the complete opposite feeling about summer break because I'm a speech therapist in an elementary school. I'm ready for a break soon. :) I can definitely understand parents worrying about summer though. Once I have kids, I'm sure I'll feel the same way! Hopefully lots of outdoor time for them. Thanks for joining us for coffee!

  3. I hope your knee feels better! Cross-training is definitely the best thing to do in that situation.

    1. Thanks Brienne. Yes so true! I needed to work on my swimming anyways so maybe it's good that it happened.

  4. Good morning! I'm so happy we could get together and catch up :)

I want to know all about H2C! So jealous you're running it! I hope your knee is nothing too serious.

I look forward to our next coffee date!

    1. Ha! Yes or maybe I just want to be able to see when I have to run one of my relay legs which I believe is around 11:00 pm! I also read that you should bring your own if you don't want to wear a sweaty wet one from the person who is running before you.
